Mark Schleifstein will be signing Path of Destruction and participating in a local author forum presented by the Press Club of New Orleans at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel in the Napolean Ballroom on 500 Canal St, New Orleans, LA. The book sale and free signing will include 11 local authors of Katrina related books including Path of Destruction co-author Mark Schleifstein from 2:00 to 4:00 pm cst. Afterwards there will be forums with the authors from 4:00 to 6:30 pm cst. The $10 Admission to forums benefits Press Club scholarship fund.

John McQuaid, a Washington journalist who was with the New Orleans Times-Picayune for many years, will sign copies of “Path of Destruction: The Devastation of New Orleans and the Coming Age of Superstorms” at 6 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 19 at Politics and Prose Bookstore and Coffeehouse, 5015 Connecticut Ave., NW, Washington, DC. The book takes an in-depth look at the context of Hurricane Katrina’s destruction. He and co-author Mark Schleifstein examine New Orleans’s long history of disasters, the civil and scientific efforts to avert Katrina, and the future of big storms ahead.
